Recently I was in Slovakia and ordered a salad alongside my meal. Upon arrival, there it was, arranged nicely for the eyes; the lettuce, the cucumber slices, the tomato chunks, the radish slices and some carrot sticks. But what about the dressing? (Yes, I know, you Europeans are gonna get a laugh out of this!)
Growing up in the U.S., I am one who likes my ranch dressing thick, creamy and tasty. I’ve already had to scale back living in Switzerland with a more “runny” dressing or the simple vinegar and oil, but there on my plate was a naked salad with nothing on it, just 100% percent pure God made vegetables. A glance across to other tables and seeing my hosts begin to eat confirmed that this was it and nobody else had dressing either. So as not to be rude and demand some calorie filled dressing, I just ate it as it sat. AND GUESS WHAT? It was wonderful! The cool crisp vegetables, each full of their natural flavors, were a delight and to my surprise, very tasty.
Before I left the table, I had an amazing “worship” experience as I realized again, this is how best to enjoy and worship God… 100% PURE! Simply worship God all the time, especially while going about normal everyday life! As Christians and churches, we too often have to “dress up” God and add the dressing on everything we partake of. Don’t get me wrong, I love the church and even going to church, but God is so much more. We sometimes only feel we worship by dressing up and going to a dressed up church service. Often today the services and church ministries are programmed to the max and can overshadow the simplicity of just walking with God in your daily life experiences.
Try God 100% PURE this week, as you simply worship while you go about your normal life activities! Dressing is nice, but enjoying God as “HE IS”, is a beautiful thing!
In His grip and grace,
WE ARE BACK WORSHIPING TOGETHER THIS SUNDAY AT 18:30 AT VORSTADT 30! LOOKING FORWARD TO PICKING UP WHERE WE LEFT OFF IN THE BOOK OF JAMES!
There are always “seasons” in life and our walk with God, good and bad. As we studied in James just before Christmas, it’s through the difficult times that our faith is grown and the process makes us mature and complete!
What about the good seasons of life? Often we just enjoy these times and take them for granted until the next difficult season hits and we again, call out and cling on to God. I share the following in praise for what the Lord did for us this past year. It wasn’t always “easy” but 2005 was an amazing season in the life of the Best’s as we were able to clearly watch God work in nothing short of miraculous ways. As 2005 began, I was still looking for a job and the LIFT Ministry was meeting in the living room of our apartment. It wasn’t quite the expectations we had when we arrived the previous July in answer to the Lord’s calling us to step out in faith for Him.
As 2006 begins, I praise the Lord and give Him ALL the Glory for His amazing blessings for my family and His Lift Ministry. My job He blessed me with has proven better than expected for many reasons, but mainly due to the flexibility to be able to prepare and lead the LIFT services each week and still of course, be a husband and father first to my family. The LIFT ministry began meeting at Vorstadt shortly after 2005 began and we have gained a strong core group and identity of Christians who love the Lord, and momentum is continuing forward! Lastly, our family just moved to Edlibach (just up the hill, but still in canton Zug) this past week and what a blessing this new home is for our family!
In ALL things, we praise the Lord! In sharing life together as a church in Zug, we also can share the good and bad times together in Christian love. Looking forward to walking in life with you all in this New Year the Lord has before us!
By the way, believing IN God is NOT the same as BELIEVING God! The book of James has something to say about this. Join us Sunday night as we dig into God’s Word and understand deeper faith by actually BELIEVING GOD!
In His grip and grace,
Corey and Tanya
