“Thankfulness during the holiday season”

Hello Everyone,

We truly have so much to be “thankful” for!  I hear some of us have tried to gather enough ingredients to prepare a Thanksgiving Day feast.  A turkey can be found fairly easy, but someone noted it’s not complete without a green bean casserole.  Where in Switzerland can one find french fried onions for such a casserole?  To be honest, we have no idea but we thought ahead and brought those hard to find ingredients on our container from the U.S. a few months ago!

As we walk through seasons of life, especially during the holiday times where many of us may miss our home countries, our family has truly began to understand that our “citizenship” is in heaven with the Lord!  It reminds me of what Paul says in the Bible:

Phil 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

In the weeks to come the LIFT ministry has some opportunities to share some holiday time together.  Take note of the following dates and please pray for our anticipated launch date in late January as we leave our living room and “go public” in Zug down by the lake! (Details being worked out.)

So, as you can see, we are in a transitioning time and will have a large public push in Jan. 2005 (papers, signs posted, Amtsblatt, your ideas) to let Zug know there is a new Christian ministry using “the Bible and the English language” to share the GOSPEL message!  Your ideas, comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Be thankful for what truly counts this holiday season, a life in eternity with our Creator, who came to save us through the virgin birth of Jesus Christ who was laid upon a manger………..   as you see the Nativity scenes of Christmas, remember that Jesus is truly the reason for the season!

Luke 10:2-3
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go!
NIV

Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you!

Hello Everyone,

Oh, what a wonderful God we have! How great are His riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his methods! For who can know what the Lord is thinking? Who knows enough to be His counselor? And who could ever give to Him so much that He would have to pay it back? For everything comes from Him; everything exists by His power and is intended for His glory. To Him be glory evermore. Amen. (Romans 11:33-36)

We are people with lives full of “circumstances”.  Each of us have our own realm of our world, our own aspects of joy, and of course our own sets of problems.  Sometimes it is just refreshing and reenergizing to simply consider that there is a much bigger realm outside of our own, that is perfectly under control.  We serve an awesome God.  Reread the above verses and give Him the glory!

Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you!

In His grip and grace,

Corey

BLESSING????

Hello Everyone,

With so many speeches recently ending in “God Bless America”, I was reminded again of an article I read about a year ago that changed my personal perspective on seeking God’s blessings.  How often we hear something like (or pray it ourselves), “Bless us God, as we go about serving you!” …..or, thank you God, for “blessing” our family…..  Please “bless” our safe travels as we go on vacation……

Below is a clip from this article that Pastor Rick Warren (U.S.) wrote that affected my perspective, perhaps it may yours too?

________________________________________________________________

You need to stop praying, “God, bless what I’m doing,” and start praying, “God, help me to do what You’re blessing.”

God, I know You’re going to do some very exciting things in the world today. Would You give me the privilege of just being in on some of them? I just want to be in on what You’re doing. I want to do what You’re blessing.”

________________________________________________________________________

As much as I DO want God, to “bless” America, I would rather give God the glory and my full trust in Him blessing who and where He chooses according to His purposes.  The beautiful thing is that God’s resources and blessings are greater than anything man could ever dream of!

Phil 4:19-20  (NIV)
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

As we ask the Lord of the harvest to bring more workers, let us seek to walk where He is blessing right here in Switzerland and around the whole world!

In His grip and grace,
Corey

So………….this Luke 10 idea is about????

Hello Everyone,

A field ripe for harvest? – Not enought help to harvest it?  Ask the Lord of the Harvest to bring more workers!

-GO—–GO——–GO!!! and don’t worry about all the “stuff” needed to take along.  Just GO in faith and the needs will be taken care of as you GO!

-Persons of Peace? –  There will be those along the way that will help, and not necessarily other Christians.  Look for those “people”!

-TELL THEM “THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NEAR”!!

What is this “Kingdom of God” message?  –  It is the good news of Jesus Christ!!!!

Below (and attached document has both English and German version) is a great way to express the Kingdom of God to those you encounter in life.  We are looking at this GOSPEL message and other “techniques” in the next couple of weeks in regards to helping us to be able to tell the Message.  If you know other evangelistic ways of giving the GOSPEL message, please bring them to share also.

G – God created us to be with Him. (Genesis 1:26)

O – Our sin separates us from God (Genesis 6:5,6)

S – Sin cannot be removed by good deeds. (Titus 3:5)

P – Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again. (1 Corinthians 15:3,4)

E – Everyone who trusts in Him alone has eternal life. (John 6:47)

L – Life that’s eternal means we will be with Jesus forever in heaven! (Rev. 22:5)

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Jesus Christ (Luke 10:2)

Lift Night- for Oct. 17th, 2004

Hello Everyone,

1-Ask the Lord of the Harvest to bring forth workers!

2-GO and TELL them the “Kingdom of God” is near!

The first statement is our LIFT ministry’s main prayer.  As we are forming our IDENTITY, we seek to grow and have a presence of Jesus in the Zug area.  The second statement is our message, or the GOSPEL message to be more precise!  We will be looking intently at this Gospel message the next couple of weeks.

1 -IDENTITY- We are still forming the “it” of who we are in regards to being a home Bible study, cell group, or new “church” plant. For the moment it seems best to simply use the term “ministry”. We are the Lift Ministry, a new Christian ministry in the Zug area that uses the Bible and English as common tools in reaching our to others!  As we are in teamwork with both the Evangelische Stadtmission Zug (German language) and International Baptist Church of Zurich (English language) we are excited to see what the future has in store!  Looking ahead, we intend to launch to more of a “large group format” (vague intentionally, bring your thoughts and ideas to discuss) after the new year in January 2005 in a much bigger room than our living room.  For now, join us on Sunday nights at our home as we get our initial foundation set.  Jesus is already bringing in the workers, let’s keep praying for more!

2 -THE GOSPEL–  Have you ever been in a conversation that begins to head into spiritual matters and you want desperately to share your Christian faith and give some truth and substance in the conversation, only to hold back out of fear of what to say? …..or what others may think? …..or ??   We have all been there, and the truth is, we often DO hold back for many reasons, often simply being “unconfident” in how to clearly share our faith.  The next two weeks will be specifically geared to equipping ourselves with a better understanding of the GOSPEL message and how we can know it and share it in normal everyday conversations.

Looking forward to growing together!

In His grip and grace,
Corey and Tanya
